About the event
DESCRIPTION
Every day accidental drug overdose claims 14 Ohioans, and those reeling from the loss of a loved one often can’t find a place to turn.
The G.A.P. Network connects grieving families to resources and is building communication channels in Ohio to support advocacy and education about prevention.
These conferences bridge the gap between families and community members to experts and resources. Families impacted by a loss of addiction, professionals seeking resources, and community leaders will leave with larger networks, more tools to combat these tragedies, and will gain support from each other.
The Advisory Council of parent volunteers hosts the conferences to give families a space to meet in a larger setting. We bring families together for peer support, in an intimate but educational setting, and invite professionals in multiple disciplines to participate.
For 2019, our theme is “Erasing the Stigma” with workshops that support Coping with Grief, Advocacy for Prevention, and Understanding Addiction & Behavior. The conference is deeply rooted in the science of addiction and how that impacts our personal, civic, and professional lives. We dive deep into appropriate grief and coping related information.
