About the event

Join us as we work together to help each other identify specific barriers we face when addressing marijuana within our communities, and how to use this new information when articulating prevention messages about marijuana when talking to others. We will explore the power of language and the importance of choosing our words carefully, as well as how to frame presentations and conversations around research versus opinion. In addition, we will discuss key persuasion techniques that should be in any preventionist’s toolbox.

Learning Objectives:

1. Identify perceived barriers faced when addressing marijuana with the audiences/populations they most often work with, and how to use that information to identify specific objectives for your limited time with that audience/population.

2. Explore the power of language and the importance of choosing our words carefully.

3. Learn how to frame presentations and conversations around research versus opinion.

4. Learn about how to use both proactive and reactive persuasion techniques.
